In the video clips, the men were seen kicking, spitting, and spraying paint on the signboards. A New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) officer who confirmed that the boards were defaced said that posters and black paint have been removed from all directional signage boards on Akbar Road.The Delhi Police said they have not registered a case as they are yet to receive an official complaint in the matter.One of the three men in the video is allegedly Daksh Chaudhary, who had assaulted former Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union president Kanhaiya Kumar during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign.In the footage showing the Humayun Road signboard being defaced, Chaudhary and two men are purportedly heard raising slogans against Mughal emperor Babur, followed by chants of “Jai Bhawani” and “Jai Shivaji”. After defacing the Akbar Road signboard, Chaudhary is reportedly heard saying that the country belongs to Chhatrapati Shivaji, Maharana Pratap, etc. He then takes out a poster with ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg’ written on it.Chaudhary was also among the two men arrested by the Ghaziabad Police in February 2024 for allegedly entering Madina Masjid in Garima Garden while wearing shoes and verbally abusing people who had come to offer namaz.
