By Mulengera ReportersDuring the CBS Radio program on Saturday, FDC whip in Parliament Yusuf Nsibambi defended himself against claims that FDC MPs were defecting to NRM in large numbers because of his weaknesses as the Forum for Democratic Change Caucus leader in Parliament.Panelists referred to the fact that almost all FDC MPs from Acholi have lately quit for NRM protesting lack of inspirational leadership at Najjanankumbi. Nsibambi denied this saying that as a whip, he had done his best except that the NRM money is too much for his members to resist. He made it clear that he is so incapacitated, he can’t even buy fuel his caucus MPs yet NRM moneybags like Anita Among keep luring them with huge sums of money-moreover in dollars. Nsibambi recalled a recent fundraising in Anthony Akol’s Amuru district Kilak County where Anita Among splashed dollars like there was no tomorrow.Nsibambi says that its the Among dollars which overwhelmed Akol and other FDC MPs to defect to NRM as opposed to lack of inspirational leadership at Najjanankumbi. On Friday, such FDC MPs attended the NRM caucus at Entebbe State House as special guests of the President. Nsibambi says he was with some of these FDC MPs in a meeting when GCW Hamson Obua sent them text messages requiring them to attend the Caucus meeting. That even when he is ordinarily their boss under the FDC caucus, such party MPs listen to Obua and Anita Among more than him. “They don’t recognize me as their leader because I have nothing to give them for their material satisfaction. Even when they ask me for fuel, I can’t give them because I don’t have any.”Nsibambi said that in fact, the problem is beyond FDC because in his view, the entire opposition caucus in Parliament has (without exception) been captured to work for General Museveni either directly or indirectly through his proxies in the business community.“I can tell you that there is one wealthy Indian in Kampala who is very scandalous yet you can’t expose his scandals in that Parliament without getting isolated. He controls up to 180 MPs, many of whom are from opposition. He has interest in almost everything in that Parliament. When you stand up to speak out on something in which he has interest, say in the Committee, colleagues gang up on you. They begin to threaten you that you are finished. He is going to prop up an opponent against you. A total of 180 MPs are counting on that Indian to secure reelection in 2026.”Nsibambi said that every opposition MP has been captured that even those talking tough are actually not being honest because they don’t mean what they say.“In fact, if you were to have a secret vote on anything today, the opposition cause, which is the ordinary man’s cause, will get zero votes because everybody has been captured,” said the Mawokota South MP who has been in the opposition for his entire adult life.Fellow panelists like PFF’s Erias Lukwago, NRM’s James Kakooza and Kasule Sebunya demanded that Nsibambi confirms if he too has been captured. They wondered why the opposition cause would get zero votes yet Nsibambi himself is there. He was tasked to explain whether he too has been captured.Saying the ordinary Ugandans are now on their own, Nsibambi said he has a list of opposition MPs, including from his own FDC, who recently got Shs50m each from Museveni just for their upkeep. He also spoke of others who recently spent three days in a Hotel in Entebbe as they waited to be ushered in to go and see Gen Museveni to make a political deal with him on how to betray the cause of the ordinary Ugandans who he repeatedly said are nowadays on their own.
