By Mulengera ReportersMawokota South MP, who is also the FDC Deputy President for Buganda Yusuf Nsibambi, has singled out LoP Joel Ssenyonyi asserting that he is leading a clique of NUP top leaders who are determined to destroy what remains of the FDC faction at Najjanankumbi.Nsibambi says that each time NUP organizes Dr. Kizza Besigye rescue-related meetings or events, Ssenyonyi uses his position as LoP to deliberately leave out and isolate the FDC leadership at Najjanankumbi. Just this week, NUP organized a prayer session for Besigye and other political prisoners at their headquarters in Kavule but the FDC Najjanankumbi faction was conspiceously absent.Months earlier, the LoP convened a media event at Parliament where all opposition party leaders converged to denounce Gen Museveni and his son Gen MK for persecuting Dr. Besigye. Still FDC Najjankumbi wasn’t there even when it’s public knowledge that without Besigye doing what he did, there would never have been any FDC to write home about.During the Saturday CBS panel discussion, Nsibambi blamed Joel Ssenyonyi for all this. He explained that the LoP rang him personally at short notice and requested him to invite SG Nandala Mafabi and Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat. “This was verbal and not in writing. He called me saying POA and Nandala weren’t taking his calls. He asked me to speak to them because it was strictly them that were expected to attend the prayers at Kavule. He said they shouldn’t delegate and that they only wanted those two people and not more,” Nsibambi explained his interaction with Ssenyonyi.He said he too tried to get hold of the two leaders via telephone as he was in Masaka.Nsibambi corraborated Ssenyonyi’s view when he confessed that it was very hard for him too to get hold of either POA or Nandala as they don’t easily take calls.Even on this occassion, they indeed took long to take his calls. But eventually, POA picked and told Nsibambi he was unable to attend KB’s prayers at Kavule because he was busy in Kumi campaigning for the area MP Seat which he wants to assume in 2026. “You know he wants to become an MP in that area and he told me he was busy meeting elders as he prepares to launch his campaigns,” Nsibambi said about POA.Najjanankumbi’s conspiceous absence was a key issue for debate on CBS fm on Saturday and Nsibambi said there is no way the leaders at Najjanankumbi would hate Dr. KB to the extent of shunning his prayers at NUP headquarters except that their attendance or representation was complicated by Joel Ssenyonyi who was unreasonable and rigid in his invitation.Nsibambi, who risks defeat in Mawokota for lack of NUP support, wondered why it wasn’t a written invitation to Najjanankumbi and why Ssenyonyi made it personal by insisting that it had to be Nandala and POA and no one else coming for the prayers on behalf of the Najjanankumbi faction.Gratefully, Ssenyonyi will be on CBS on Tuesday for a political talk show on Kiriza oba Gana (7-9pm) whose moderator Meddie Nsereko has promised to ask him about all these Nsibambi claims.
