Americans Abroad Player of the Week: Josh Sargent

There is not a striker in the EFL Championship riding better form than Josh Sargent.Sargent added to his goal total on Saturday after registering a brace in Norwich City’s 4-2 home win over Stoke City. The U.S. men’s national team forward earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors for his latest productive afternoon. Sargent propelled the Canaries into a 2-1 lead three minutes into the second half before extending their lead with a confident left-footed strike. The 24-year-old cut onto his left foot just outside of the Stoke 18-yard box before drilling a shot into the top-right corner. Norwich City would hang on for the home win as Sargent increased his goal tally to 11 goals on the campaign. With Ricardo Pepi, Folarin Balogun, and Haji Wright all sidelined through injuries, Sargent looks set to be the USMNT’s No. 1 striking option for March’s CONCACAF Nations League schedule. The USMNT left back has continued to be a consistent starter for the club and helped LASK jump into the top-six with Sunday’s home result. Marlon FosseyStandard Liege claimed one of its more impressive league victories of the season on Sunday. Marlon Fossey set up the winning goal for Standard Liege in a 2-1 road triumph over second place Club Brugge. The USMNT full back excelled on both ends of the field and played a key role in a vital victory for Ivan Leko’s squad.Jonathan TomkinsonRoss County has tossed Jonathan Tomkinson right into the fire and the American defender has risen to the challenge.Tomkinson logged his latest 90 minutes as Ross County defeated Dundee FC 3-1 on Saturday. The 22-year-old centerback won two duels, made 12 clearances, and two interceptions as Ross County made it back-to-back wins for the first time since early-January.
