The Hardy Boyz are back in WWE and it appears as though they might be around for a while.Matty and Jeff Hardy are undoubtedly one of the most popular wrestling tag teams of all time, not least thanks to their peak stint in WWE during the Attitude Era.WWEThe Hardy Boyz helped redefine tag team wrestling in the Attitude Era[/caption]The daredevil pair won numerous world championships and the hearts of fans all around the world with their close-to-the-knuckle style made famous in matches like the infamous WrestleMania ladder match that stole the show in 2000.First appearing in WWE way back in 1996, they are one of the most tenured teams in wrestling having shone there and at countless other wrestling companies across the globe in the decades that followed.Despite their fame in TNA – where they are currently world tag team champions – and All Elite Wrestling, The Hardy Boyz will always be most memorably associated with WWE, making it all the more special that they featured on the company’s latest NXT show on Tuesday night, aired all around the world, US aside, on Netflix.Their appearance against No Quarter Catch Crew in Ohio was their first WWE outing in almost six years, when their previous spell with the organisation – at least as a team – came to an end.An injury to Jeff Hardy in 2019 resulted in the duo having to vacate the tag team titles they held at the time, leading to them eventually reuniting as a tandem in AEW two years later.An on-and-off two-year stint for the Hardys in Tony Khan’s company was effectively ended when Matt was released, but fans only had to wait weeks for their latest dose of the brothers as they were again paired together in TNA.They won tag team gold there once more in in October 2024 and, thanks to a multi-year talent crossover agreement between TNA and WWE, the door was nudged open for some familiar faces to hop over the fence – the Hardyz not waiting long to dive straight back into familiar territory.They wrestled on Tuesday’s episode of NXT, where it was also confirmed they’ll defend their TNA tag gold against the pairing of Nathan Frazer and Axiom at Roadblock next month, the champs eager to show they’re still the finest ta team in the world.Hopes have been raised that their stay may yet stretch beyond NXT, too, with WrestleVotes noting that WWE are keen for more – even beginning to sell new Hardy Boyz merchandise.They reported: WWE [dropped] a brand new Hardy Boyz shirt ahead of their NXT return…The Hardyz were back strutting their stuff under the WWE umbrella this weekWWEJeff Hardy has won numerous world titles as a singles wrestlerWWEAfter their victory, the brothers insisted they want to re-establish themselves as the world’s best teamWWE“Internally, there’s buzz that this is just the beginning, with creative sources optimistic the legendary duo will have a main roster program sometime this spring / summer.”The news that Matt and Jeff might again rub shoulders with some of WWE’s biggest and best names was music to the ears of many fans.With an applause emoji, one wrote on X: “The Hardy Boyz ending their WWE career on good terms.”Another added: “The Hardyz going in as TNA Tag Champs on Netflix is gonna be wild.”The Hardy Boyz are, all told, seven-time world tag team champions, while the brothers have also held 15 singles world titles between them. They’re established as one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history.Their return coming after the company re-opened its doors to another iconic tag team previously banished under the rule of Vince McMahon.Demolition are back in the WWE fold with calls growing for them to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
