With civic polls due in a month, no new taxes have been introduced, providing relief to residents.The budget proposal was presented by Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Satyawan Ubale in the presence of Additional Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe, City Engineer Shirish Aradwad, and other department heads.The projected revenue for 2025-26 is Rs 5,709.95 crore, with an expected closing balance of Rs 25 crore. Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, while sanctioning the budget, highlighted plans to position Navi Mumbai as a “growth hub” by enhancing infrastructure and maintaining high public service standards.Shinde emphasized the city’s need for better urban planning, financial restructuring, employment generation, and sustainable water management. “The future of cities lies in their ability to harness technology to address complex urban challenges and create sustainable livable communities,” he said.The commissioner also underlined the role of the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport in boosting economic growth. “The city must evolve beyond a residential hub and establish itself as a centre for business, trade, and industry. Our responsibility is to create an ecosystem that supports this transformation,” he added.The budget focuses on infrastructure expansion, improved governance, and environmental sustainability.
