In Numbers1,171 mt of food assistance delivered*USD 56 m six months (January - June 2025) net funding requirements, representing 56 percent of total needs.310,833 assisted* in January 2025*Preliminary figuresOperational UpdatesIn January, WFP provided food assistance to over 310,000 people through its school-based programme, livelihoods initiatives and emergency response interventions in the states of Amazonas, Anzoátegui, Apure, Barinas, Delta Amacuro, Falcón, Monagas, Sucre, Trujillo, Yaracuy and Zulia.School-based programme285,017 students and school staff received meals through early education and primary schools. Out of these children, 26,283 under the age of three received fortified cereal (Super Cereal Plus) to complement and improve their diets.WFP, along with its partners and members from the school community, conducted maintenance activities on 35 school kitchens. Additionally, kitchen utensil kits were distributed to 277 schools in the Eastern region of the country. This initiative aims to enhance safety and hygiene conditions for school cooking.Community-based food assistance and livelihoods23,832 people in communities of Apure and Sucre states received food from WFP this month. In these communities, access to food is a challenge for people either because of its prices or because families have lost their sources of income.585 people, mostly children caregivers, participated in skill training sessions. Over 400 of them are families of students with disabilities who also received additional support from WFP through their schools. These activities complement the food basket and improve the capabilities, confidence and skills of families to seek sources of income and bring food to their tables.Emergency preparedness and responseWFP completed the second food distribution to nearly 500 flood-affected families (1,984 people) in the Boscán community (Zulia state), with the support of the national Civil Protection and volunteer firefighters.Inter-agency coordinationBased on the findings of the Gap and Needs Assessment (GNA) 2024, the Logistics Cluster has presented and discussed with its partners the Action Plan 2025 for Venezuela, which outlines key strategic priorities to improve humanitarian logistics operations. In line with these findings, the Cluster has also activated subnational logistics coordination cells to strengthen communication and field-level data analysis. These efforts help Cluster members to improve their efficiency and be more effective with the resources they have.The Food Security and Livelihoods Cluster held its first meeting of 2025, attended by 70 organizations. The agenda included the Monitoring of the 2024 response, the Inter-Agency Contact Line Report, participation in Local Coordination Forums, updates on the Humanitarian Cycle, the Agriculture and Basket Working Groups, the Environmental Analysis Tool, humanitarian needs presented by Impact Reach, and lessons learned and methodologies shared by organizations.
