The Guyana Police Force has announced the promotion of over 600 officers across both subordinate and senior ranks. The long-awaited promotion list, released on Wednesday, heralds a new chapter for the force. The promotions, effective from January 1, 2025, were approved by the Police Service Commission, including officers at various levels, with significant shifts in rank and responsibility. The promoted ranks range from Assistant Superintendent to Senior Superintendent, with numerous officers also ascending to the position of Assistant Commissioner, a major step in their careers. The latest promotion list comes at a time of great significance for the police force, coinciding with the commencement of the annual Police Officers Conference at Eve Leary. This event will see the Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken, and President Irfaan Ali, the Commander-in-Chief, deliver addresses to the ranks.Leading the list is Traffic Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahendra Singh. Singh, previously a Senior Superintendent, has made the leap to Assistant Commissioner, signifying his hard-earned progression within the ranks. Alongside Singh, other notable figures promoted include Senior Superintendents D. Moore, K. Mandall, M. Kingston, S. Bacchus, and A. Das. A total of eight Senior Superintendents have been elevated to higher ranks, marking a clear reflection of the commitment and efforts of the Guyana Police Force in fostering internal development and leadership.Among the many other promotions, Deputy Superintendents A. Austin, M. Ally, and R. Ali, as well as Assistant Superintendents such as J. Grant and R. Clarke, also received significant promotions. The Police Service Commission has also approved several officers for positions as Inspectors and Cadet Officers, ensuring the development of the next generation of leaders within the force. This release of the promotion list was particularly anticipated as senior officers had not been promoted since 2022. The gap between the 2022 and 2025 promotions has been a point of concern for many in the force. The post Over 600 senior, subordinate police ranks promoted as Force kicks off annual conference appeared first on News Room Guyana.
