Lion Dance to celebrate Chinese New Year in my town of Wokingham, UK.My little town in Berkshire, UK celebrated the Lunar New Year with a vibrant display of cultural performances in Wokingham Market Place on Sunday, February 9. It featured artists and performers both locally and from across the south of England. A key highlight was the Lion Dance, symbolising power, wisdom, and superiority in Chinese culture. It always attracts the crowds, especially the kids. Perfect sketching opportunity. There were lots of other things happening throughout the day, including traditional Chinese calligraphy, and circus skills workshops, such as plate spinning and cloth twirling. Plus, stalls offered a variety of street foods, ranging from Thai to Japanese/Chinese fusion.Unfortunately, it was very cold, and I got my sketches done as quickly as I could before returning to the warmth of my house. Perhaps next year, it will be a little warmer AuthorMohan BanerjiArtist's Websitehttp://@mohanbanerjiThe post Lunar New Year 2025 appeared first on Urban Sketchers.
