(File Photo)Days after an MCD school teacher was booked for allegedly slapping a six-year-old boy, causing an internal ear-bleed, the civic body has suspended the teacher as well as the principal.In the initial report received from the Education Director’s office, the school denied the incident and said the child was never on their rolls. The attendance register, however, states that both the six-year-old and his brother were enrolled at the school on December 6, 2024, The Indian Express had reported.In a statement, the MCD said that it is committed to a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to students being manhandled. “MCD has suspended the erring teacher and principal in the incident related to slapping a class 1st student of the MCD school… in Shahdara North Zone. Commissioner MCD has approved the suspension of the teacher and principal with immediate effect for manhandling the child,” the MCD said.According to the parents, the boy was physically assaulted allegedly by his school teacher on February 17 and his ear started bleeding. The parents first went to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital and a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) report was given to them on February 18. They filed a police complaint on February 20.The mother of the student, who is enrolled in the evening shift, had said, “When he came back home from school on Monday, his ear was bleeding. We asked him what had happened and he told us he was going to the water cooler to drink water when the teacher slapped him thrice, which caused his ear to bleed. I rushed to his school to confront his teacher but by then, it was past school hours and everyone had left. The school gates were closed.”The parents said they had initially ignored the ear bleeding on Monday but decided to take their son to the hospital the next day after he felt nauseous and started vomiting.© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:delhi
