It's common knowledge by now that Samsung wanted to equip the Galaxy S25 and S25+ with the Exynos 2500, but couldn't, because low yields at Samsung Foundry meant that the number of chips being produced were far below the number of chips needed. So Samsung was left with no other option than to go Qualcomm's way and use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the entire Galaxy S25 series. There were some reports recently about the Exynos 2500 being used for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Many sections of the Korean media still believe it may happen, but a new report claims that the yield issue will once again prevent Samsung from doing what it wants to do. However, it may produce enough chips to use the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip FE. Galaxy Z Flip 7 might just get the Snapdragon 8 EliteSamsung has reportedly begun mass producing the Exynos 2500 chipset, with wafer tests expected to begin in March. Yields are still low, with some estimates putting them below 50%, meaning that Samsung can only produce 5,000 Exynos 2500 chips per month. The company sells a few million units of the new Galaxy Z Flip phone every year. These yields can't possibly ensure the supply that Samsung's mobile division needs. Either yields must scale up dramatically between now and July/August 2025 when the new device is released, which is incredibly difficult, or Samsung once again opts for a Qualcomm chip.Industry insiders in South Korea are now of the view that Samsung might use the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip FE, the more affordable clamshell foldable that's expected to launch later this year. Previous leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip FE's specs have also pointed to this possibility. Current yields could adequately support the supply required for the Galaxy Z Flip FE, which may see limited availability like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. With benchmarks already showing that the Exynos 2500 falls short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Samsung wouldn't be convincing potential Galaxy Z Flip 7 owners to open up their wallets. Equipping the Exynos 2500 on a cheaper foldable might just make it palatable. This certainly bodes well for those who were considering an upgrade to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025, at least they can hold out hope for a much more superior chipset. The post Your Galaxy Z Flip 7 might dodge the Exynos 2500 bullet appeared first on SamMobile.
