The Ukrainian Defense Industry (Ukroboronprom) has signed an agreement with Canada’s Roshel for the joint production of armored vehicles in Ukraine.Under the agreement, Roshel will provide technical documentation and components for the production.It will speed up the supply of armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Defense Forces, strengthen Ukraine’s economy, and provide the country with Western technology.“The Ukrainian defense industry is expanding its international partnerships,” Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetani was quoted as saying about the development.“The armored vehicles of this Canadian company are already in service with our troops, and producing them in Ukraine will significantly accelerate their supply to combat units.At the same time, this step will strengthen Ukraine’s economy and provide our defense industry with access to advanced technologies, further integrating Ukraine into the defense-industrial base of the free world.”Canadian Armored Vehicles in UkraineAt least 1,000 Senator armored vehicles manufactured by Roshel have been delivered to Ukraine since 2022.The Senator comes in variants such as personnel carrier and mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle.In 2023, 200 Senator MRAPs were delivered to Ukraine, with most of the delivery going to Ukrainian State Border Service units.Senator Armored VehicleThe Senator has a seating capacity of 10 personnel and a payload of about 2 tons.The 4×4 vehicle provides ballistic protection up to CEN B7, which is enough to withstand a 7.62 x 51 mm bullet from a distance of 10 meters (33 feet).It is 6 meters (20 feet) long, has a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 330-horsepower 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine.The post Canadian Roshel to Help Build Armored Vehicles in Ukraine appeared first on The Defense Post.
