SCR deploys two teams of metal-cutting experts at SLBC mishap site

South Central Railway (SCR) has deployed two teams of metal-cutting experts to help in the ongoing rescue mission at the collapsed portion of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel near Domalpenta.With at least eight workers feared to be trapped inside the tunnel, government teams with the help of Indian Army, Navy, Rat Miners and NDRF team have undertaken extensive rescue operations to rescue those trapped inside. Following the request of Nagarkurnool district Collector, the SCR teams are involved in clearing the debris including steel and iron which have been hindering the rescue works at the site, informed an official spokesman on Thursday.The first batch lead by Divisional Mechanical Engineer S. Murali, along with a senior section engineer, 13 welders and two technicians from Secunderabad, Lallaguda and Rayanapadu workshops have reached the site to take up the required works.A second batch of experts consisting of one senior section engineer along with four technicians will also be reaching the site to support the first team. The staff have been deputed along with requisite machinery including plasma cutting machine, brocho cutting machines, portable air compressor, plasma cutters, ultra thermic cutting equipment, packets-electrodes, battery, Oxygen cylinders, welding machine, welding electrodes, helmets and retro reflective jackets, said a press release.Published - February 27, 2025 06:27 pm IST
