Tottenham Hotspur could boost Chelsea’s chances of Europa Conference League success this season after UEFA revealed their scheduling plans for the competition’s quarterfinal and semifinals.Tottenham take on AZ Alkmaar in the round of 16 stage of the Europa League, with the Lilywhites travelling to the Netherlands for the first leg on March 6 and the Dutch side set to make the trip to London for the second leg on March 13.Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to face Copenhagen in the next round of the Conference League, with the second leg of that clash set to take place in Stamford Bridge on the same date.Rules currently do not allow two teams from the same city to have a home fixture on the same day. However, UEFA have made an exception for Tottenham and Chelsea on March 13, having given the green light for both London sides to host their home games on that day.Photo by SpursWebUEFA will modify Chelsea dates for the next roundHowever, Chelsea have now confirmed on their official website that a similar clash of dates will be avoided in the quarterfinal in the semifinal.Tottenham are scheduled to play the first leg at home in the quarterfinal if they get past Alkmaar, while the Blues are also scheduled to do the same in the Conference League if they get past Copenhagen. However, it has been explained that should Spurs progress to the final eight, Chelsea will instead play the first leg of the quarterfinal away and the second leg at home. The West London will be afforded the same luxury in the semifinals should Tottenham progress to the final four of the Europa League.Tottenham will be wondering why their fixtures are not swappedWhile it is understandable that Chelsea’s fixtures will be swapped in the quarterfinal to avoid a clash with Spurs, Postecoglou‘s men will be wondering why they do not get the same privilege in the semifinal stage. It is not ideal for Tottenham to be playing the second leg away from home in the quarterfinals as well as the semifinals, especially given the quality of the opposition they will face at this stage of the competition.Spurs will thus have their work cut out massively if they are going to make it to the final in Bilbao on May 22.READ MORE – Tottenham handed major scheduling boost ahead of AZ Alkmaar clashThe post Tottenham could inadvertently boost Chelsea’s chances of European success appeared first on Spurs Web.
