Both the vehicles have been recovered, they added.A 45-year-old accountant died after being shot at by four bike-borne men while he tried to stop them from stealing his bag containing Rs 6.5 lakh, at Shalimar village on Tuesday, the police said on Wednesday.The police identified the deceased as Saroj Pathak, who worked at a utensil-manufacturing factory in Wazirabad industrial area.Pathak would leave his office on a scooter with a bag of cash every day to hand it over to factory owner Ravinder Jain at Shalimar village, they said, adding that the accused were aware of Pathak’s post-work routine.An officer said the incident took place around 9 pm when Pathak was on his way to Shalimar village. “The accused not only stole his bag but also fled with his scooter after shooting him… He died at the hospital during treatment,” the officer added.“The four accused have not yet been identified,” DCP (North West) Bhisham Singh said.“On Tuesday, while Pathak was at a T-point in Ashok Vihar, the four men drove towards him… One of them took out a countrymade pistol and fired a shot, which hit Pathak in the chest.
