According to police, Rajesh, who is from Madhubani, has a history of committing highly organised robberies across India.Days after a woman was held hostage at her Noida home allegedly by her cook and his two accomplices, who then made off with Rs 60 lakh in cash and jewellery, and property papers, police have arrested two men — and found that a larger Bihar-based gang was behind the crime.The accused have been identified as Rajesh (41) and Parveen alias Sonu alias Mota (30). Police have recovered Rs 4.7 lakhs from their possession. Rajesh was earlier booked in an MCOCA case.Police said on February 22, the woman was at her home in Noida Sector 61 when the incident took place.Two days ago, Crime Branch officials received credible inputs about Sonu’s whereabouts, information was gathered and a raid was carried out at Qutub Minar Metro Station in Delhi. He was subsequently arrested. Another raid was then carried out at Chattarpur Pahadi in Delhi and Rajesh was arrested.“Rajesh admitted that he and his co-accused (who is yet to be arrested) were the masterminds. He said they had been planning the heist for several weeks and their strategy involved infiltrating the victim’s household by placing a fourth man as a cook under the false name of Rahul,” said Additional CP (Crime Branch) Sanjay Kumar Sain.According to police, Rajesh claimed some of the gang members were from Madhubani and Champaran in Bihar.Police said facilitated by the cook, Rajesh and his partner gained entry to the victim’s house and confined the victim. As per their plan, Sonu and two more men were positioned outside the house to keep watch.After committing the robbery, the accused persons fled in the victim’s Fortuner before abandoning it; they were worried it had GPS and could be tracked, said police.Story continues below this adDuring questioning, Sonu said the total looted amount was Rs 60 lakhs cash, gold jewellery and documents. “Sonu said he and Rajesh received a share of Rs 8 lakh from the loot, out of which Rs 4.70 lakh was recovered from them. A total of eight members — including six executors, one who placed a cook in the house, and one who provided SIM cards — executed the entire heist. The amount was divided amongst them as per their work,” Sain added.According to police, Rajesh, originally from Madhubani, has a history of committing highly organised robberies across India. A class V dropout, police said his involvement in criminal activities began early and he quickly became notorious for his participation in violent heists.His skills in planning and executing robberies led him to form and lead a criminal network, continually expanding it with each successful heist.
