“We’re not going to give you a platform to justify what you said,” Bear Degidio, the co-host of the JAXXON podcast refused to give Bryce Mitchell a platform to speak his mind after Quinton Jackson and his team, along with ‘Thug Nasty’ were dragged into a controversy following Mitchhell’s pro-Hitler comments. Of course, what the featherweight contender said wasn’t something that he should have said. But cutting him off the podcast was something that most of the fight fans didn’t appreciate. Even Mike Perry and the rest of the OverDogs crew didn’t approve of Degidio’s statement. During the recent episode of the OverDogs podcast, Perry weighed in on Degidio’s decision. He said, “They flew him off and put him on the podcast and said, ‘we’re not gonna give you a platform to talk and explain yourself in any way, shape, or form, because what you said was so stupid.’” Perry’s co-host Mac Mally made his stance clear. Even though he wasn’t in support of Mitchell’s words, he didn’t like the idea of Degidio canceling Mitchell as he did. On top of that, the JAXXON podcast even took down the episode. Josh McLean joined in and said, “You don’t bring somebody on a show to mentally disable them and shut them down.” That was when ‘Platinum’ pointed out that the podcasters even paid ‘Thug Nasty’ to fly to the studio. But that simply worsened the situation. McLean said, “If you really want to, let them say their piece, right, and you counter the argument there. If that’s really what you want to do, counter the argument. But you don’t bring somebody on, pay them to fly out, and then just shut them down and tell them they can’t talk. It’s dumb.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by OverDogs Podcast (@overdogspodcast)Nevertheless, Mitchell had a safe space at OverDogs podcast. ‘Bagz’ invited the featherweight contender and claimed that he could say whatever he wanted to. ‘Thug Nasty’ had appeared in a previous episode of OverDogs podcast and his talks were indeed wacky. Weighing in on this, McLean said, “The Bryce episode was hilarious. The s— he said was wacky. If he says that to me, I’m gonna tell him it’s wacky. But you still don’t de-platform people.” But the boys at OverDogs weren’t the only ones to diss Degidio’s decision. Anthony Smith and Jake Shields weigh in on Bryce Mitchell’s situation with JAXXON podcastSoon after Mitchell’s words went viral on the internet, people began bashing the featherweight. But ‘Thug Nasty’ realized his mistake and took to Instagram to release an apology. However, Degidio’s statement was what urged UFC veterans to push the podcaster and redo the episode with Mitchell. One of the protesters was Jake Shields. He took to X and wrote, “I know and have talked to all 3 guys since the podcast. It was not cool how Bryce was treated but Bryce holds no ill will. Bear should apologize to Bryce and redo the podcast. He didn’t realize how much the world has changed and can use this as a learning experience.”Anthony Smith also joined the charades and expressed his feelings on the On Paper Podcast. He revealed his appreciation for ‘Rampage’, claiming that he was indeed his favorite fighter. But cutting Mitchell off was something that he didn’t like. He said, “Whether you agree or disagree, or like Bryce Mitchell or hate Bryce Mitchell, don’t bring him on if you’re not going to give him a platform to speak his truth. You can disagree with him. But, like, the whole, ‘We’re not going to give you a platform…’ Shut the f— up.” Of course, things had already gone out of hand. Even Dana White was furious with Mitchell’s words. But that didn’t mean that the UFC head honcho should remove ‘Thug Nasty’ from the fight promotion. That simply wasn’t what a supporter of free speech would do. People could disagree or agree. But it wasn’t a punishable offense that demanded his removal. All the featherweight contender can do now, is hope for the fire to settle down as quickly as possible.
