Several states in North India, including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, are expected to receive rainfall and snowfall this week due to a fresh Western Disturbance. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this disturbance is currently observed as a cyclonic circulation over northern Iran and its surrounding regions."Higher moisture is expected to feed into the western Himalayan region from the Arabian Sea, mainly between Feb. 25-28," the weather agency predicted.Subsequently scattered to widespread, light to moderate or heavy rainfall is likely in these states:In Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are likely between Feb. 25 to Feb. 28. During this period, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad will likely receive heavy rainfall and snowfall. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these regions.The weather agency predicted scattered light to moderate rainfall for Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh from Feb. 26 to Mar. 1. A yellow alert will remain in place for these states on Feb. 27.Further, west Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will receive rainfall from Feb. 27 to Mar. 1. Downpour is expected in west Rajasthan on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28. Similar weather conditions are likely for east Rajasthan on Feb. 28 and again on Mar. 1Rainfall In Northeastern States And AndamanDue to an anti-cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal, northeast states will also likely receive rainfall till Feb. 26, the IMD said.Arunachal Pradesh is expected to see moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning throughout today. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today. These states have been on a yellow alert for the day.Andaman & Nicobar Islands will likely get widespread moderate rainfall today and heavy rainfall at isolated places on Feb. 25-26.Temperature May Rise In Central India Later This WeekThe IMD predicts no significant change in maximum temperatures over central India for the next 3 days. However, the temperature is expected to rise by two to four degrees Celsius thereafter. Similarly, the maximum temperature over Gujarat will likely be stable over the next two days before increasing thereafter.
