Recent reports from South Korea may have been too hopeful for foldable phone fans. As some of you know, a rumor that spread around yesterday claimed that Samsung wants to release its first dual-hinged/tri-fold phone alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. A credible source now says otherwise. The original rumor stated that Samsung's tri-fold phone will be fully unveiled at the next big Unpacked event, which should supposedly take place in July. Then and there, Samsung would unveil its first-ever tri-fold phone, accompanied on stage by the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.At least, that was the idea. Today, @MaxJmb, who has a fair track record, chimed in. Samsung will not launch the tri-fold phone alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the source said, but will be “unveiled at a later point in time.”In a follow-up reply on X, @MaxJmb said Samsung might give foldable phone fans a teaser of the tri-fold phone at the next Unpacked event, but either way, the device won't be fully unveiled then and there. It's a bit disappointing, considering that fans have been waiting for Samsung to expand its foldable product lineup for years. A tri-fold Galaxy phone is almost like an entirely new take on the concept, and other OEMs have tried it ahead of Samsung. Everyone wants to see how the Korean tech giant can respond to the competition. We may have to wait longer than we'd like to get an answer. As for the more regular single-hinged Galaxy Z Fold 7, the first glimpse of its design emerged yesterday through a few unofficial renders. The upcoming phone looks very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 but introduces a few changes and improvements, including a thinner profile. All in all, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might be, like its predecessor, an incremental upgrade.Reportedly, Samsung is also working on decreasing the crease visibility of its foldable panels, particularly for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.The post First Samsung tri-fold phone may skip summer Unpacked after all appeared first on SamMobile.
