The day temperature in the Tricity, which had touched 27 degrees Celsius earlier this week, is expected to drop by 12 degrees as rains and snowfall continue to lash Himachal Pradesh.Meteorologist Navdeep Dahiya said a massive western disturbance is likely to dump heavy snowfall over the western Himalayas, including Himachal Pradesh, in the next 36 hours. “Rain, thundershowers, and hailstorms are expected in various parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh between early hours of Friday and Saturday morning. Day temperatures are likely to dip further tomorrow,” he said.In February last year, the Tricity experienced cooler and wetter conditions around the same time, with maximum temperatures dropping to 22–24 degrees Celsius and moderate rainfall recorded. The meteorological department has predicted rainfall in eight districts of Haryana today—Karnal, Yamunanagar, Jind, Panipat, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, and Panchkula.Due to the impact of the western disturbance, a weather warning has also been issued for Punjab, with rain expected today. An orange alert has been issued for nine districts, while a yellow alert has been sounded for another nine.
