During investigation, the Cybercrime Police found that the accused were uploading short clips (teasers) of the videos on YouTube and then selling the full videosThe Ahmedabad Cybercrime Police on Friday was granted a nine-day remand of the three accused arrested from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for allegedly selling videos of female patients on Telegram.The accused are allegedly members of a gang, which was involved in hacking the CCTV footage of the gynaecological examination room of a maternity home in Rajkot and selling patients’ videos for up to Rs 2,000.The matter came to light during a social media monitoring exercise by the Cybercrime Police, who filed an FIR on behalf of the State, under Sections 66(e) and 67 of the Information Technology Act on February 17.Also Read | Gujarat: Videos of women patients uploaded on social media, probe onOn February 19, the police had apprehended Prajwal Ashok Teli from Latur in Maharashtra, Praj Rajendra Patil from Sangli in Maharashtra, and Chandraprakash Phoolchand of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. They were sent to Ahmedabad on transit remand. Police said that Teli and Patil had earned at least Rs 8 lakh from the sale of videos.On February 20, the police approached the local court and submitted a report, requesting permission to add BNS Sections 61 (criminal conspiracy) and 77 (voyeurism), as well as IT Act Sections 43(b), 66 and 66(f)(2) in the case. The request was granted by the court.The three men were placed under arrest in Ahmedabad upon their arrival on February 20. While the accused used to offer previews on a group, they would sell the videos on another.Further investigation in the case in underway.
