Since the beginning of hostilities between the Mouvement du 23 Mars (M23) armed group and the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC) and their allies in late 2022, a significant displacement crisis has developed in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), particularly in the province of North Kivu.Fighting throughout the crisis has forced households to abandon their residences, leading to largescale displacement from their zones of origin to host families, established sites, collective centers, and newly created sites. In response to these population movements, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has conducted registration exercises in IOM-managed sites throughout the ongoing crisis. In order to provide an updated overview of site-level populations and to facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance, DTM conducted registrationoperations in 102 displacement sites and collective centres in North Kivu between 7 and 18 November and between 16 and 21 December 2024.This report presents key findings drawn from the registration operation. Registration teams visited these displacement sites to verify the presence of displaced households, shelter by shelter. In each inhabited tent, the enumerators recorded the households present. This operation was conducted in collaboration with the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) cluster and was carried out in collaboration with the Commission Nationale pour les Réfugiés (CNR) of North Kivu.
