A new alpha release of System76’s emergent Rust-based COSMIC Desktop environment is out with a clutch of important improvements, bug fixes, and new features. Although very much a work-in-progress, unfinished, and lacking polish, COSMIC desktop is already in use as a daily driver by many. The upcoming COSMIC beta release will provide less intrepid users with a more rounded view of the direction the desktop is taking.
