It’s fair to say that Donald Trump is a Tiger Woods fan.The US president and golf fanatic has shared the stage with the golfing icon on numerous occasions throughout his career, while they’ve also both taken to the course together.Woods was back at the White House where he got some huge praise from TrumpGettyThey have done so again at a White House event, while it’s now emerged that a secret round in Florida took place before Trump jetted off to the Super Bowl on February 9.It’s clear that the pair weren’t just catching up either, with Woods one of the PGA Tour player directors trying to get a deal over the line to end golf’s civil war.Trump also namechecked PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and Woods’ fellow player director Adam Scott during his speech at the event, which is surely good news for those waiting on a merger.The sport was upended by the Saudi-backed LIV Golf emerging in 2022 and poaching many of the sport’s best players with big money offers.In June 2023, the two parties, plus the DP World Tour, announced the framework of a merger, but there’s been little news since.Yet Woods and Trump have met repeatedly since his re-election, with Trump possessing business ties to Saudi Arabia and a relationship with LIV chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan.However, despite business clearly being on the table, Trump would have just been happy to again have shared some time with the man he considers the GOAT.Speaking at a National Black History Month event at the White House, the 78-year-old said of his countryman: “These are the best people Tiger, and we have Adam Scott, winner of the Masters, one of the greatest golfers in the world. “I’ve always tried to swing just like Adam but it never worked out that way. I just want to thank Adam and Tiger and the commissioner of golf Jay Monahan, head of the PGA, we had some interesting discussions. “But let me ask you, is there anyone like our Tiger? He’s the greatest.”Woods was recently seen playing with Trump’s granddaughter and pro-golfer, KaiGettyTrump then went on to make a bold prediction about Woods’ future in the game, adding: “He’s got a long way to go, too. I was with him a week ago, we played. I think he’s got some left, Adam doesn’t he? “Couple of Majors maybe. Maybe more than that…”The 49-year-old Woods has the second-most major wins in history with 15 and is considered not just by Trump, but by many, as the greatest of all time.Yet it’s been six years since his last major win at the Masters, which was already deemed a comeback of epic proportions given off field struggles and injury woes.However, the Florida native has since had to stage another rebirth, with his life upended again in 2021 when a car accident left him with a series of serious injuries.Woods hasn’t been at the level to compete for majors since then, but Trump isn’t the only one hoping to see him back at the top.
