The Disaster Response Force of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), together with Fire department personnel, rescued a six-year-old boy who was stuck in the elevator shaft at Shanti Nagar area of Masab Tank on Friday.The boy, Arnav, slipped through the gap between the lift door and wall in the apartment complex, while stepping out of the grill door. He fell from fourth floor and got stuck in the first floor.HYDRAA got a call around 2.30 p.m. after which the first team of HYDRAA was at the location within 10 minutes, followed by two more teams. The power connection to the lift was cut to ensure nobody could operate it.Using gas cutters and tools of firefighting, the workers of DRF, under the guidance of District Fire Officer M. Yajna Narayana, and Station Fire Officer P. Dattu, removed the elevator frame and later the slab too, in order to rescue the boy without harm. Around 4.35 p.m., the boy was extricated, and shifted to hospital, a statement from HYDRAA said.Published - February 22, 2025 09:56 am IST
