We spend the majority of our time in video games mashing on buttons on a controller, so it seems reasonable enough to want to customize that experience to make things as comfortable as possible for ourselves. Luckily, the Nintendo Switch 2 features button remapping, allowing you to swap any button for another, whether it's for improved accessibility or simply a matter of preference. Here's how to remap your controller buttons on Switch 2.How to remap buttons on Switch 2To remap your buttons on Switch 2, you'll first need to navigate to your console's Settings from the home screen. Once you're in Settings, scroll down and select Accessibility. Here, you can click on the option Change Button Mapping.Side note: Keep in mind that you can also toggle on the setting called Change Button Mapping from Quick Settings in the Accessibility menu. As the name suggests, this will add the option to change your button mapping from Quick Settings, which is accessed by holding down the Home button on your controller. This can making this process significantly faster and easier.Once you've clicked Change Button Mapping, you'll want to pick which controller you'd like to customize, then click Edit Controller Mapping from the selection of options. On this next screen, you'll be able to customize every button on your Pro Controller or Joy-Cons. Simply press A on any button option here and choose the button you'd like to replace it with.Customize your buttons however you see fit.You can select Control Stick Settings on the right side of the screen to switch your left and right sticks, which can be especially helpful for some left-handed users. Additionally, you can select GL/GR Button Settings to assign inputs to either of these two back buttons on a Pro Controller. Assigning an input to one of these buttons doesn't replace the standard button--it merely acts as a secondary way to use that input, making it a great choice for actions like jumping or weapon swapping.Back on the Button Mapping page, you can save and load presets so that you can swap between them easily for different games. And if you're ever unhappy with your controller mapping, you can choose Reset Controller Mapping to return to the default settings.
