We Played the Nintendo Switch 2, and You’re Going to Want One. But It’s Expensive.

Wait 5 sec.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is here, and we’ve played it.The original Nintendo Switch launched more than eight years ago, and while we’ve seen minor updates since, the new Nintendo Switch 2 represents a meaningful upgrade in almost every way: It has a much faster processor, a bigger screen, redesigned Joy-Con controllers, and new games you’ll be able to play only on Nintendo’s latest console. The Switch 2 went on sale June 5 for $450—a $150 jump over the original’s starting price. We got a sneak peek and some hands-on time with the new console at a Nintendo event in New York City on April 2, and now we’ve spent even more time with actual, final hardware outside of a controlled setting. We’re not quite ready to review it yet, as we need to spend some more time playing games and digging into the Switch 2’s various ins and outs. But here’s an early spoiler alert: It may look a lot like the old Switch, but the Switch 2’s packed with enough improvements—and has enough new games—that you’re almost certainly going to want one.
