After six weeks of testimony and cross-examinations, the jury trial of the four men accused of murdering lawyer Carmel Chircop and journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia has entered its final stage.Judge Edwina Grima delivered her final instructions to the nine jurors before officially sending them to deliberate what they have heard.“The time has come for you to begin your deliberations,” she told the jurors, urging them to assess the evidence carefully and without bias. She thanked the jurors for their commitment and sacrifices during the past six weeks, as well as everyone who was involved in the trials, and the journalists who kept the public informed. The four accused men – Robert Agius, Jamie Vella, Adrian Agius, and George Degiorgio – are facing charges related to supplying the explosives used in the 2017 Caruana Galizia assassination and commissioning the 2015 murder of Chircop. They are all pleading not guilty.A large part of the trial has revolved around the testimony of Vince Muscat (known was il-Koħħu), who admitted involvement in the two murders and turned state witness as part of a plea deal.
