Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for Galaxy smartphones and tablets offers Android 15’s predictive back feature only in Google applications and not in the system UI and other apps. Fortunately, last week, we learned that the brand is working on changing that as its Android 16-based One UI 8.0 beta for the Galaxy S25 series offers the predictive back feature in stock apps too. Unfortunately, the tech giant seems to have quickly backtracked.Tarun Vats reports that the latest beta version of Samsung's Android 16-based One UI 8.0 for the Galaxy S25 series, the firmware version of which ends with ZYF1 (Samsung hasn’t released it officially; the tipster has side-loaded it), lacks the predictive back gesture. He has also posted a video showing that the feature isn’t available in Settings, which is a bummer. There is still hopeThat being said, it is possible that the South Korean tech giant disabled the feature in this version of the firmware to test something out (which could also be the reason the brand didn't release it to the beta testers), and the company may offer it with the next beta release. So, there’s still hope. At the moment, there’s no information about when Samsung will release the next beta version of One UI 8.0 for the Galaxy S25. For people wondering what predictive back is, here's a quick overview: On your smartphone, in system UI or apps, as soon as you start swiping from the right to the left edges of the screen to go back, this feature brings the current window to the right, and in the background, shows what the previous screen offers. While this isn't a big feature, it certainly makes navigating the system UI and apps a lot easier.Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S22 may get One UI 8 beta soonSamsung has created One UI 8.0 Beta Program pages for the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S23 series on its Community forum, suggesting that the brand will offer it to these devices soon. While the company hasn’t created any such page for the Galaxy S24 series, considering that Samsung is planning to offer it to the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S23, we expect the tech giant to offer it to the Galaxy S24 series as well. The post New internal One UI 8 beta removes Predictive Back animation appeared first on SamMobile.
