The Vande Bharat train service between Katra and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir will start commercial operations from Saturday, June 7, the Northern Railway said on Thursday.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to inaugurate two engineering marvels – the Chenab bridge and the country's first cable-stayed rail bridge at Anji. It can run smoothly even at a minimum of minus 20 degrees Celsius, ensuring that it remains operational throughout the year. The new trains feature heated windshields, advanced heating systems, as well as insulated toilets to ensure a comfortable journey.In order to support the route, a snow removal train will move ahead of Vande Bharat to clear the tracks in the high-risk zone. Similarly, train number 26404 will leave Srinagar at 8 am and reach Jammu Tawi by 10:58 am. It will not run on Wednesdays.In the return journey, train number 26401 will depart from Katra at 08:10 am and arrive in Srinagar by 11:08 am, except on Tuesdays.
