Bengaluru stampede case: Police arrest RCB, event management company officials at airport

(Express Photo)Two days after the stampede in Bengaluru where people had gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) winning the IPL, the police Friday arrested Nikhil Sosale of RCB management and Sunil Mathew of event management company DNA at the Kempegowda International Airport. The police, on Thursday, had booked RCB, event management company DNA and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) administration over the stampede with CM Siddaramaiah asking the police to arrest the representatives.On Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had ordered the suspension of Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda and several other senior officers in connection with the stampede near the Chinnaswamy stadium.Earlier on Thursday, the Karnataka High Court took suo motu cognizance of the stampede and directed the state government to provide a status report by June 10.Briefing the media after a Cabinet meeting, Siddaramaiah had said retired High Court judge Justice Michael Cunha would probe the incident.
