Telangana High Court on Friday (July 4, 2025) issued notices to the State government in a PIL petition over failure of officials to enforce the provisions of Telangana Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agricultural Holdings) Act-1973.The bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara instructed the State government to file its response within four weeks over the issues raised in the PIL plea.Singur Jalasadhana Committee (Alladurg of Medak) president Kanchari Brahmam wrote a letter to the High Court stating that some individuals were floating companies and buying lands on large scale. These huge agricultural land masses were being kept idle, defeating the purpose of using them for agricultural production or growing crops for food production.The said special Act was supposed to check such misuse of land but the authorities were not acting upon the issue.
