The inevitable is upon us. While neither attraction is considered a doorstopper, both add aesthetic value to the park and create an atmosphere of calm on an otherwise hectic day at Magic Kingdom. Disney fans have started social media petitions and letter-writing campaigns to The Walt Disney Company in an attempt to stop the project, but it appears to have been in vain. With this latest construction update, it seems only a matter of time before giving the axe to the two beloved attractions to make way for what fans deem a “parking lot.”Credit: DisneyWith the attractions closing on the Fourth of July weekend, Disney fans receive one final slap in the face. Many saw this as Disney moving away from America.However, there is a larger issue. Annual Pass holders are blacked out for the Fourth of July weekend. They are arguably the most diehard Disney fans and the ones most likely to be angry over the removal. One fan wrote:It’s no coincidence Disney is closing Rivers of America on Fourth of July weekend. Not only is it meant to add salt to the wound, but they wanted as many APs blocked out as possible so they don’t have Magic Kingdom assembling the largest crowd in its history to say goodbye to an attraction that has no business leaving. They don’t want those optics, so they lock everyone out and sweep it under the rug.
