The first phones to run One UI 8.0 out of the box are just around the corner. But the update will arrive for older Galaxy phones as well in the coming months. While it isn't as big of an update as One UI 7.0 was, it still brings some great new features. Here are three One UI 8 features that can be really helpful during your casual time on a Sunday (or any day of a weekend).1. Camera swipe up controlsSince you are more likely to use your Galaxy phone's camera on a weekend, a new camera feature that One UI 8 brings could be really useful. It features a new swipe up/down option in the camera's Settings menu that makes it easier to access camera controls. By default, swiping up or down lets you switch between front and rear cameras. However, you can switch that to open quick camera controls in One UI 8. Quick camera controls give you access to the full Settings page, flash, timer, aspect ratio, resolution, Motion Photo, exposure, filters, and face adjustments. Usually, you can access them from the Quick Controls button, but it could be harder to reach when you are holding the phone with one hand. This option, according to me, is more useful, as you can already switch between front and rear cameras using the camera switch button in the bottom right corner of the screen, which is easier to reach. And this is where One UI 8's new Quick Share UI comes into play. The UI is now clearly divided into two tabs: Receive and Send. All your or your family members' devices appear in the Send tab. When you want to receive images, videos, or any other files, tap the Receive tab, and your phone will be ready to receive files. It also has direct access to visibility settings and the name of your device.3. Samsung Internet Since you are likely to spend more time browsing the web on a weekend, you will enjoy doing that on the new version of Samsung Internet that comes with One UI 8.0. Its redesigned UI now shows all the controls you might need, whether they are related to sharing web pages or other items in the menu.Earlier, tapping the menu would hide the webpage's URL and icons to access Downloads, History, or the Settings menu. It also has some nice background blur effects that weren't present in One UI 7 and earlier versions of Samsung's software.Bonus features: Alarm & Reminders management is easierAlarmsOne UI 8 brings greatly improved management for alarms and reminders. On a weekend, you might want to set up alarms and reminders for the next week, and those things get easier with One UI 8. You can now group your alarms and turn them on or off quickly.RemindersThe Reminder app has received a redesigned UI that makes it easier to see all the categories and how many reminders there are in each category. You can also hide and show custom categories. There are sample reminders to help you get started quickly, and you can create new reminders quickly by just starting to type in the text field at the bottom of the screen. You can also create reminders from the Calendar app. When you tap the + button in the Calendar app, you get two options: Event and Reminder. Tapping the Reminder tab creates a reminder and displays it in both the Calendar and Reminder apps. You can also create a reminder using your voice by tapping the microphone button at the bottom of the screen in the Reminder app.If you want to read more about One UI 8, click the link here.
