Telangana Formation Day 2025: On June 2, the people of Telangana celebrate their formation day, a decade since India’s youngest state was established.Telangana was created as a separate state in response to a longstanding demand for a separate Telangana state that had been raised for decades, a resolution led by the Congress Working Committee.On June 2, 2014, Telangana was formed out of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, following the approval of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in the Parliament in 2014.After extensive discussion on the specifics of the state boundary and the choice of capital (for the new Andhra State), Hyderabad was chosen as the joint capital of both Andhra and Telangana for ten years, after which Andhra would have to shift its capital.
