Two Odia-medium among 5 new schools start in Surat

The Odia-medium students get primary education form Surat Municipal Corporation run Municipal schools (Express File)After a span of 7 years, the state government has started 5 new schools (secondary and higher secondary) including two secondary schools for Odia-medium students in Surat.The admission process in these schools has started for next academic year.Currently, there are 24 secondary and higher secondary schools in Surat district. With the addition of five new schools, the total number of government schools in Surat will be 29.Sources in the Surat district education office (DEO) said that for the first time two secondary schools will start at the Bhestan and Kosad area in Surat city, especially for Odia-medium students.The Odia-medium students get primary education form Surat Municipal Corporation run Municipal schools. Later, some go back to their native place and continue further education while some quit studies.Surat DEO Bhagirathsinh Parmar said, “It was long pending demand for Odia-medium students to start secondary school. We have accepted the proposal and started two such schools in Surat city. There are over 10,000 students getting education in Odia-medium. Our motive is that the education of students should not be affected.”Apart from two Odia-medium schools, one English medium secondary school will be started in Laskana, followed by a higher secondary school (General stream) at Kathodara village and one more higher secondary school (Science stream) at Nansad village in Kamrej.
