By Mulengera ReportersNewly elected NRM structure leaders across Uganda are embracing Anita Among making it clear they can’t wait for the August Delegates Conference to kill her with votes to become the new second National Vice Chairperson for the ruling NRM party. This weekend, the Anita Among caravan reached the Ankole district of Rwampara to popularize her bid for the CEC position. Elected leaders in that district ensured that the Bukedea Woman MP was received with enthusiasm. While in Rwampara, Among met the NRM delegates who overwhelmingly endorsed her candidature. They made it clear that their vote was hers because she is an able-bodied, charismatic and kind leader full of compassion. Some described her as a people-centric young leader who NRM can’t afford not to deploy because she wishes the best for everyone.Among explained to the Rwampara delegates that her candidature is premised on restoring party stability, unity and transformation. “I bring cohesion, unity and new energy for mobilization for the NRM party but above all connect the party with all arms of government,” she said. The more Anita Among gets embraced, the narrower the political survival chances for the incumbent Rebecca Kadaga become. With some of the delegates and elected leaders from her Kamuli backyards beginning to have guts to decamp and openly embrace Anita Among, the writing is increasingly on the wall for Kadaga who has occupied the top NRM CEC position since 2005 when the NRM was declared a political party and began behaving as one.
