Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Switch 2 Footage Shows The Game Looking Much Smoother In Action

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was an ambitious new entry in the series when it launched for Switch in 2022, but it was also heavily criticized for numerous technical issues. The good news is that the game will be getting a free upgrade on Switch 2, and as seen in some new gameplay footage, it looks like it'll be a much smoother experience overall. Previously, a single screenshot was posted on the Nintendo blog, and the company mentioned that players will be able to see Pokemon from farther away.New footage for the game was posted on the Nintendo Today app (via Wario64), and it showed a higher frame rate, a densely packed overworld in the Paldean region, and colorful Terastallization for Pikachu. Overall, it looks like the game is running at or close to 60fps, but Nintendo hasn't confirmed yet the exact number of frames that the game is capable of reaching. On its official Switch 2 upgrades page, the company briefly mentions that the visuals have been optimized for Switch 2, and that the frame rate has been improved. The other caveat here is that we also don't know how well the game holds up during intense moments of action or exploration, as that could result in a performance dip. While the preview clip isn't indicative of the whole game, it does still look promising, and hopefully, this upgrade can give Pokemon Scarlet and Violet a chance to shine. Even with its various technical flaws, it's still an impressive mainline Pokemon game with interesting gameplay mechanics, vast areas to explore, and a surprisingly touching story.Pokemon fans can also look forward to Pokemon Legends: Z-A later this year. Ahead of a new Pokemon Presents livestream on July 22, The Pokemon Company confirmed that the game will launch for Switch and Switch 2 on October 16.
