(File Photo)A 40-year-old man from Punjab’s Ludhiana who worked as a taxi driver in Canada was allegedly shot dead under “suspicious circumstances” in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta province.Ankur Gupta, Rural SSP, Ludhiana, confirmed that the man, Inderpal Singh, hailed from Jand village of Raikot subdivision. “However, for many years, he and his family were living in Canada,” said SSP Gupta.According to the statement issued by the Edmonton police, an autopsy was completed in the “suspicious death” that took place in Southeast Edmonton earlier this week.According to the Edmonton police, they “responded to reports of shooting at a residence” in the area of 16 Avenue SW and located a 40-year-old male with injuries. The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds,” read the Edmonton police statement.Back home in Jand village, people said that Inderpal Singh had moved abroad some years ago. Initially he was in Hong Kong, from where he moved to Canada, where he took his father and wife along later. However, his father died in Canada some time back. He is survived by his wife and an eight-year-old child.
