A two-day tribute “Drishyamohanam 2025” will be held on June 14 and 15 at Irinjalakuda Town Hall to commemorate the first death anniversary of filmmaker M. Mohan, who brought a new aesthetic sensibility to Malayalam cinema, Minister for Higher Education R. Bindu has said.Organised under the joint auspices of the Irinjalakuda Pauravali and the Mohan Foundation, the event celebrates the creative legacy of Mohan, a native of Irinjalakuda, whose films garnered national and international recognition.The programme kicks off on June 14 with the screening of Mohan’s popular film Vida Parayum Munpe, followed by the presentation of an award-winning short film from the Drishyamohanam Short Film Contest.A special session titled “Mohana Smriti” will bring together prominent artists and admirers from the Malayalam film industry who worked with or were inspired by Mohan, sharing memories and insights into his contributions.A cultural conference at 5.30 p.m. on the same day will be inaugurated by Ms. Bindu, with Irinjalakuda municipal chairperson Marykutty Joy presiding over. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the first Mohan Film Award to filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery.The night will continue with a dance tribute based on Mohan’s film songs, choreographed by Satyanjali Kochi, alongside performances by Vineeth Kumar (Kozhikode), Shruthi Jayan, and Siraj Pallissery.On June 15, the festivities resume at 10 a.m. with curated film screenings and a dance festival, followed by Nrithanjali, another artistic presentation by Satyanjali Kochi.Published - June 10, 2025 08:28 pm IST
