Tottenham Hotspur are looking to appoint a new manager after Ange Postecoglou was sacked, but contact has not been made with the leading contender for the role.Tottenham’s fairytale end to the season is well and truly over, after the news was confirmed that Ange Postecoglou has been sacked. The Australian manager has only been allowed to fulfil two of the four years he was contracted to the club for. He arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after winning five out of six domestic trophies on offer at Celtic and got off to a quick start. His team were top of the Premier League near the start of the campaign and only narrowly missed out on Champions League football.Postecoglou stayed true to his word in his second season, winning the Europa League and therefore ending a 17-year wait at Spurs for a trophy. However, disappointing performances in the league have ultimately led to his sacking, with Tottenham recording their lowest ever finish and losing 22 matches.(Credit: @ChrisCowlin / @SpursChatPod)Tottenham are expected to make manager decision next weekAccording to The Athletic, Spurs are anticipated to make a decision on finding a replacement for Postecoglou next week.Thomas Frank has been one of a host of managers linked with the Tottenham job. Yesterday, Frank was named as the frontrunner to replace Postecoglou at Spurs, however, this was before Postecoglou’s departure had been confirmed. It has now been reported since the big announcement that the Brentford boss is the leading contender to become Tottenham’s next manager. However, Spurs are yet to make contact with the Dane, so it is far from a done deal.Postecoglou is the fifteenth manager sacked by Daniel Levy during his time in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.Would Thomas Frank succeed at Spurs?Rumours of Tottenham hiring Frank have already caused a divide in the Spurs fanbase. Some are impressed by his record at Brentford, as helped the London outfit earn promotion from the Championship and become a stable side in the English top flight. However, he is not a proven winner like Postecoglou was when he arrived at Tottenham. Frank’s Championship play-offs win is his only notable achievement, as the only other senior team he has managed is Brondby.Mauricio Pochettino and Nuno Espirito Santo could be considered to have been at a similar level to where Frank is now when they were handed the reins at Spurs. Those were two very different stories, so whether Frank is a good fit for Tottenham remains a mystery. Only time will tell if he is the man Spurs need to continue competing for trophies and to be able to compete with Europe’s elite next season. The post When Daniel Levy is expected to decide on next Tottenham Hotspur boss – no contact made with the frontrunner appeared first on Spurs Web.
