I worked in healthcare and knew of an older mother with an older daughter, mother would tell one sob story after another. The daughter was definitely slow but sweet, gentle and kind. The mother played the system--she was slow too but apparently pretty savvy. The daughter would work a summer camp and could handle some responsibilities. I only wished the mother spent more time teaching her daughter about life and making it on your own than pleading for help only after she burnt all her bridges. The girl is going to need a lot more outside help.
