(Photo: FB/ SPCA of Wake County)Over 100 dogs were rescued from an apparent puppy mill in United States’ North Carolina where they were allegedly kept in “egregious conditions” as they were found living packed and filthy condition, an animal shelter said.After a complaint was filed in North Carolina’s Raleigh, animal control officers raided the premises of a home on Wednesday where they discovered at least 101 dogs crammed in stacked cages or roaming in confined quarters, Wake County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals posted the information on Facebook.The dogs were mostly of small breeds, and among those rescued by the officers were puppies and older dogs. The local media reported that the homeowner agreed to free the dogs along with 21 chickens. According to the SPCA chapter, after the homeowner relinquished the dogs, they were taken in by eight different shelter homes and their medical assessment was ongoing.
