(Express photo by Tashi Tobgyal)Lauding the NDA government on completing 11 years in office, BJP national president and Union Minister J P Nadda on Monday said the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in all these years should be written in “golden letters” as he has changed the political culture, shifted the country from “negativism to optimism” and a established “a new normal by ending appeasement and divisive politics that had prevailed before 2014”.The BJP leader slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him an “irresponsible” opposition leader for raising “baseless” questions about Operation Sindoor and for “repeatedly maligning institutions”.Dismissing the Opposition’s questions over the stability of the Modi government, which relies on the support of its allies for majority in Parliament, Nadda said the NDA government will not only complete its term at the Centre but also win the next elections.“In the last 11 years, there has been an effective government, it is decisive, brought in economic discipline; it’s a government formed with people’s participation. It’s a government of transparency. It has talked about Viksit Bharat and created a base for it. Till 2014, we had a government full of corruption, indulged in appeasement and ruled by dividing society. There was negativism. But after 2014, there was a shift from negativism to optimism, “ Nadda told the media at the BJP headquarters here.Everyone today says “Modi hai toh mumkin hai”, said the BJP chief. “The work done in these 11 years should be written in golden letters as incredible and unimaginable. PM Modi has transformed India’s political culture in these years and created a new normal, a new order.” Nadda listed abrogation of Article 370, elections in Jammu and Kashmir with a significant turnout, abolition of triple talaq, passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) , Waqf (Amendment) Act and Women’s Reservation Act and demonetization as some of the bold decisions taken by the Modi government.Asked about Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of rigging in Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP leader said: “Bhagwan unko sadbudhi de… (May God grant him good sense). It’s difficult to understand his intentions. In the all-party meet he says he supports the government. Outside, he raises questions, baseless questions. This is irresponsible conduct. It’s irresponsible to create such a narrative. When they win in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, it’s fine, but when they lose anywhere, they blame the BJP. It is like when you win a cricket match you are great players but when you lose, the umpire is biased,” said Nadda.Praising PM Modi’s response following the terror attacks, he said, “At the time of Pulwama attack, PM Modi had said ‘you have made a huge mistake. You will have to face the consequences’. Then the Balakot strike happened. This time (after Pahalgam attacK) he said in (Bihar’s) Madhubani, ‘You (terrorists) will be answered in a way that’s beyond your imagination…’ And then Operation Sindoor happened. This has become the new normal that any terrorist activity would be considered an act of war; he has also asked them (Pakistan) to stop nuclear blackmailing,” Nadda said.Have been in journalism covering national politics for 23 years.
