Fortnite Death Star Live Event Trailer Shows Off Explosive Final Battle

Wait 5 sec.

With less than a day left in Fortnite's Star Wars season, Galactic Battle, Epic Games has been hyping up the live event that will bring this one-month season to an end. That hype cycle reached its peak on Friday afternoon during Summer Game Fest, when Epic dropped the full trailer for the event. Check it out.As you can see in the teaser, it appears that players won't just be invading the Death Star--they'll be participating in a space battle with X-Wings as well. The event will take place on Saturday, June 7 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, and it already has its own playlist in the Discover panel. When it's time for the event, it will likely be the only mode available, and it's expected that Fortnite will go offline entirely after it ends, in preparation for the start of Chapter 6 Season 3 on Sunday morning. You can join the event with a party of up to four players.Epic has been hyping up this event for a very good reason--it's been three years since Fortnite had a live event of this magnitude in the middle of a chapter. Yes, there have been some ambient live events that occurred during rounds of battle royale, but the Star Wars finale event is on a different level. Death Star Sabotage will be its own scripted story experience that will have players storm the Death Star and battle Emperor Palpatine to prevent him from using the Death Star to blow up the Fortnite island. The last time Fortnite held an event like this in the middle of a Chapter was the Collision event at the end of Chapter 3 Season 2, which went down on June 4, 2022--that's three years ago this week. That event was also the last time the overall plot of Fortnite made any sense. We still haven't found out what happened to Jonesy and Dwayne "The Foundation" Johnson when they jumped into the Zero Point at the end of the event, and we haven't heard from any other member of the Seven, which The Foundation was in charge of, since they were eaten by chrome three months later at the start of Chapter 3 Season 4. But with The Visitor, another Seven member, apparently returning immently for Season 4 OG Pass, there's some hope that this Death Star event will pick up an old plot thread or two.Since Epic's hype machine has been all about the Death Star event, there's been almost no official word about what to expect from Chapter 6 Season 3, which will kick off on Sunday. But that's OK, because the leaks have begun to flow freely. You can see what's in store for us in Fortnite's upcoming summer season here.
