The Meople exhibition is a vibrant dialogue between sculptor Trevor Diacono and painter Johanna Barthet that brings self-discovery to life through two art mediums.Johanna Barthet is a Maltese artist known for her emotionally evocative and intimate paintings. Largely self-taught, Barthet’s work reflects a deep personal exploration, often focusing on themes of identity, vulnerability, and the complexities of the human experience. Her recent works delve into the expressionism realm, with a series of oil pastel landscapes, seascapes, and still-lifes that showcase her evolving style. Barthet’s emotive portraits capture the soul’s nuances with bold, expressive strokes, revealing how we see ourselves through others’ eyes.Trevor Diacono is a distinguished contemporary artist known for his innovative fusion of art and life’s intricate narratives. Hailing from a family of artists in Malta, Trevor’s work reflects a profound connection to nature, an exploration of the extraordinary within the ordinary. Now based in Brussels, he draws inspiration from his Maltese heritage and European influences, creating art that challenges preconceptions and invites viewers to embark on thought-provoking journeys. With a deep appreciation for the intricacies of existence, Trevor’s work transcends traditional boundaries, offering a fresh perspective on the interconnectedness of art, nature, and humanity. Diacono’s sculptures, alive with raw textures and abstract forms, probe the depths of identity and time, drawing from his Maltese roots to evoke the intricate interplay of nature and humanity.Together, their works of sculpture meeting painting, create a dynamic synergy, sparking emotions that range from joy to introspection, leaving each viewer to unravel their own truths. Meople is a shared exploration, a space where Diacono’s  tactile forms and Barthet’s vivid expressionist paintings invite us to recognise fragments of ourselves in the other. The exhibition was opened on 6th June and will be available until 20th June at Art by the Seaside Gallery in Senglea and will be available for viewingWill you be visiting?•
