/u/lvnlife on I own a cleaning business and clean this woman’s house for Saturday turnovers. This is almost a 2800 square foot home and I stupidly only charge her $250. She continues to demand more outside of a cleaning realm and not in our contract. She

Wait 5 sec.

As others have said, she’s not going to look for a replacement and will keep trying to extend you. I’m in a different industry, but just had a PITA long-time client I fired try something similar. The joy I took in declining further business from her was incredible and liberating. I know you’re soon going to feel the same. In your case, I would send a follow-up text in a few days to get out of the never-ending commitment you’re now currently in. In it, I would say something along the lines of, “Hey, client—just a heads up that we’ll soon be starting other contracts. So, in the unlikely event we need to provide any additional cleanings after the next two weeks, we can do so as promised only up to July 1.” There isn’t a lie in there. Soon enough, whether on July 1 or not, you will undoubtedly have other contracts starting. And, by waiting a few days before sending that, it’s entirely plausible you took on other clients knowing you’d have the bandwidth. Including “unlikely” implies you trust her to find someone else, which adds some finality for emphasis. But, either way, this gives you a firm cut-off date with her instead of leaving it open-ended like it is now. Believe me—your sanity will thank you when you no longer have to think about this client, dread seeing their name pop up in your inbox, etc.
