DinoLand was hardly the only theme park project discussed during Disney D23, but it was certainly one of, if not the most significant.DinoLand was never as “beloved” as Disney World’s other theme park lands like Adventureland, Tomorrowland, and Fantasyland. DinoLand was built cheap and it looked the part, though many found its simplistic and tacky appearance endearing. DinoLand did manage to carve out its own chunk of dedicated fans, but it was clear Disney was never all that happy with how the land turned out. Fans had theorized for a long time that DinoLand was up next on Disney’s chopping block, but year after year, the prehistoric-themed land found a way and continued to live on.Disney’s announcement in 2022 was unexpected but not surprising, though fans would have to wait a while longer before any concrete details were released. In late 2024, Disney finally confirmed what it intended to do with DinoLand, announcing that the entire area would be demolished and turned into a new hub inspired by South America. This land will feature new rides and attractions, including an Encanto dark ride and an Indiana Jones-themed thrill ride, the latter of which will take over DINOSAUR.DINOSAUR is perhaps one of the most interesting attractions at Walt Disney World. It’s not only a copy of Disneyland’s own Indiana Jones Adventure but also one of the scariest rides at Disney’s Florida resort. Featuring terrifying dinosaur animatronics, pitch-black darkness, and incredibly loud sound effects, DINOSAUR is a sensory experience unlike any other at Disney World.Much like the creatures it’s based on, DINOSAUR will go extinct in 2026. The ride opened in 1998 alongside Animal Kingdom and has continued to grow more popular as it aged. An exact date has not yet been revealed, though it’s assumed the ride will close within the first few months of the new year along with the rest of DinoLand U.S.A.Will you miss DINOSAUR after it closes? The post Massive Crowds Gather as Disney World Fans Say Goodbye to DINOSAUR appeared first on Inside the Magic.
