A 50-year-old convict undergoing life imprisonment at the Central Prison in Tiruchi escaped on Friday. The convict, J. Rajendran, a native of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district, was lodged in the Central Prison in Tiruchi in 2023 in a POCSO Act case. He was engaged by the prison authorities to work in the Prison Bazaar — an outlet functioning at the entrance of the Central Prison situated on the Tiruchi-Pudukottai national highway.
