Over 25 crore workers from across sectors like banking, insurance, postal and construction are on a nationwide strike today, leading to multiple services being shut down today. The bandh came into effect in the early hours of July 9, and will continue throughout the day.Which sectors will/won’t be affected today? The bandh called by multiple sectors will affect the banking and postal services, state transport services, public sector units (PSU), government departments, coal mining and factories. Schools, colleges and private sector enterprises, however, will remain open. All emergency services such as hospitals, police stations and fire departments are set to remain open. Public transport services may see disruptions, however, cab and metro services are expected to run normally. The consortium has alleged that the government has not held the annual labour conference in the last 10 years. It said it submitted a 17-point charter, stating its demands, to Union labour minister Mansukh Mandaviya last year, but the Centre is taking actions against the interests of the workers and favouring employers.Live Updates07:01 (IST) 9 Jul 2025Bharat Bandh Today LIVE: KSRTC buses to operate on strike day, says Kerala ministerKerala Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar said that state-run KSRTC buses would continue operating on Wednesday, despite central trade unions calling for a nationwide strike.Speaking to reporters, the minister said the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) had not received any formal notice from trade unions indicating participation in the strike."There is no situation in KSRTC at present that warrants employees joining the agitation," he said."As far as KSRTC is concerned, employees are happy and content. The unions have not issued any notice. KSRTC buses will run as usual," he added.
